Dr. Naren Ramanan's lab is interested in questions related to how axons or nerve fibres grow and develop. His lab is also interested in understanding how axons are regenerated following injury, and the mechanisms that govern nerve stem cell differentiation into specific glial cells - commonly called the glue of the nervous system. When these mechanisms go awry, they lead to gliomas or tumours in the brain. His lab uses a combination of mouse genetics, molecular, biochemical and cell biological approaches to understand these various aspects of central nervous system development.
