Mechanisms of carcinogenesis using cancer stem cells
Research Highlights:

Recent studies have identified a small sub-population of cells within cancers, called cancer stem cells, which seem to be essential for cancer initiation and maintenance. Cancer stem cells share several properties with normal tissue-specific stem cells, the most fundamental being self-renewal. Therefore, the main focus of my laboratory is to decipher the mechanisms that regulate self-renewal in normal and cancerous stem cells.
